Documenting the African American experience in Maryland through the contributions of the Morgan State University community. The Davis Room includes an ever-growing selection of manuscripts, University Archival Material, rare books, and artifacts.

The Ellen Irene Diggs Collection documents the travels and academic life of Dr. Diggs, a protege of W. E. B. DuBois and African American Sociology professor. In collaboration with the HBCU Library Alliance supported by multi-year funding from the Mellon Foundation, 752 items of correspondence, photographs, and university and miscellaneous documents have been digitized and cataloged in the Davis Room.

As his student, protege, secretary and friend, Dr. DuBois and Dr. Diggs maintained an avid correspondence over the years.  This gallery displays a sample of their writings. Dr. Diggs is pictured here with Dr. DuBois and Dante Bellagarde in Port Au Prince, Haiti, 1944.
