First-Year Information Literacy Program: English 102

English 102 Documents

English 102 Seminar

The learning outcomes for English 102 are very different from English 101. In this module learners are tasked with scaffolding what they learned in 101 with new concepts covered in 102 seminars. We suggest that instructors focus on no more than two concepts, but if additional sessions are required the staff with include this in their instruction. By the end of each seminar the learner will be able to;

  1. Determine scholarly sources from popular sources and the peer-reviewed process.
  2. Utilize the Find It option to locate full-text articles in print or online.
  3. Search databases, print sources and archives by subject area or topic.
  4. Explain how information is used in an information age from a global and local point-of-view.
