Boolean Logic

Boolean Logic defines relationships between terms in a search. The Boolean search operators are AND OR and NOT. They can be used to create very broad or narrow searches.

AND combines keywords so that each result contains all of the keywords. Ex...African American AND Female Authors will search for articles that contain both terms.
OR combines keywords so that each result contains at least one of the keywords. Ex...College OR University will find results that contain either college or university.
NOT excludes keywords so that each result does not contain any of the terms that follow it. Ex...Nurse NOT Doctor will find results that contain nurse but not doctor.

Interlibrary Loan

ILLiad First Time Users Registration

The interlibrary loan system used by the Morgan State University Library is ILLiad (Inter Library Loan internet accessible d) a web-based interface that will allow you to access the MSU library interlibrary loan service from any internet browser. Read more about our Interlibary Loan policies.

To establish a MSU ILLiad account you will need to have your library barcode number (22058xxxxxxxxx), located at the back of your Bear Necessity Card, activated at the Circulation Desk.

Once you complete the registration process to set up your profile, you will have the convenience of 24/7 access to their MSU library interlibrary loan account. Your ILLiad account will allow you to monitor the status of your requests, request a renewal, and establish/modify preferences for receiving electronic documents.
