Evidence Based Practice: Applying the Results

This guide contains an introduction to evidence-based practice for students and clinicians. The tutorial will walk you through the steps of the evidence-based practice process and allow you to practice at each stage.

Applying the Results

Once you have found evidence that you deem valid and relevant to your case, the next step is to choose if and how you should utilize this information in your patient's particular situation. In the beginning of this guide, we pointed out that evidence-based medicine is not the only factor in your decision-making, but that your medical knowledge and the patient's values and expectations should be included as well. It is in this step of the evidence-based medicine process that you integrate these three factors to develop your plan of action.
